Dear Friends, May 2010
I am writing to update you with some good news about the mission. We have been given the opportunity to establish a base at the Franciscan Friary in Pantasaph, North Wales. It is truly a great blessing and joy for the Pilgrims of Love missionaries to be given the opportunity as lay people to support the community at Pantasaph, an amazing historic place of pilgrimage and evangelisation, and the national shrine of St Pio. For more information we have enclosed a copy of their 2010 Retreat Programme.
Whilst we await the completion of refurbishment works to St Phoilomena’s house, which will be the mission base, we are actively involved in helping to run the Retreat Centre and Shrine apostolate. For more information on further retreats please visit www.pantasaph.org.uk. In addition we have started 24 hour adoration vigils in reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus which are held at the friary on the first Friday of every month by members of the mission. Pilgrims of Love missionaries throughout the world also unite in prayer at this time for the work of the mission. You are warmly invited to join us.
On Friday 16th to Sunday 18th of July, Marino Restrepo has been invited by the Franciscans to give talks at “The Little Portion” prayer festival, with this year’s theme focusing on Catholic education. See enclosed brochure. Marino will continue to mission throughout England, Ireland and Wales until the 31st August. We will inform you of all venues later in June, but you can also see Marino’s website for updated information www.marinorestrepo.com which will also have news on his mission in Scotland from the 28th May to 6th June. We are also excited to announce that his new book will be available in July.
We invite you to get in touch if ever you wish to visit Pantasaph or if you would like to arrange your own pilgrimage group, large or small. This place of pilgrimage offers space, renewal, peace, prayer and hospitality. The shrine welcomes hundreds of pilgrims each year who come on non-residential days of prayer and special one day events. Six St. Pio days of prayer take place every year in addition to residential retreats, all with the aim of renewing the inner life we receive from Christ. On the friary grounds there is Calvary on the mountain top, reached by walking through woodland, known as the Stations of the Cross, and the Rosary Way leading to Our Lady’s Grotto. St Winifred’s Holy Well, known as the Lourdes of England and an unbroken place of pilgrimage since the 7th century is just three miles away in the town of Holywell.
If you would like to have Marino mission in your parish community/prayer group, or if you would like an updated list material available (DVD/CD/Books) please get in touch. Should you wish to come to Pantasaph, we will be happy to help you plan your visit.
Yours in The Divine Infancy of Jesus,
Rose Glynn (Mrs.)
