A CHRISTMAS 2006 REFLECTION
One more season of years that lies behind us and our sense of direction in life seems to be geared up towards the horizon we have conceived as our guiding light. Some have decided to go with what has been accepted as a philosophical way of living and others have embraced the full knowledge of believing in a creator, in God, following a path under a sober theology of life.
Regardless of direction, we are here now, knowing that this mysterious life is still going on and we haven’t reached the culmination, or transition of what is material, into what is spiritual.
For us who found a refuge in Christ Jesus and have accepted Him as our Savior and Lord, we meet here at this point and time to celebrate the great gift of Advent, the mystical coming again of our Lord Jesus as a Baby in the manger of Bethlehem. How wonderful it is to have Jesus in our Hearts and how great is our hunger of being able to give Him to every one that doesn’t know Him or that has parted from Him. We long for the day when the whole human family gets to know Him and accepts Him as Lord. We also know that regardless of earthly transitorial beliefs and faiths, we’ll all be embraced by Jesus at the end of this life, because He is the Divine Judge and redeemer of all souls, and salvation, now, at the end, and forever is only possible through Him.
Oh Christmas, Oh Holy and healing times when heaven reaches the hearts of the faithful on earth and fills them with love and hope to reinforce the broken humanities and hearts of ours, making them strong again to continue traveling through this valley of tears, this desert of the exile.
How much we would like to tell Baby Jesus at the foot of the Holy Manger that we love Him, and that we know that the love we give Him is only possible because of that very love He has given to us; Him being love itself!
How much we would like to tell Him that we really desire to become little and let go of self love, to be able to demolish these vain ideas we have of ourselves and others. To accept our human existence as a fragile vessel of clay that lies in the hands of God and that so many times and in so many ways we have pretended to manage it as our creation and possession, and therefore have turned our lives into a miserable sinful road of darkness and disaster.
Oh Baby Jesus smiling divinely from the heart of the manger, please bless us and come to our rescue, please come to our broken arms that ignore for so long how to embrace one an other and right now long to learn how to do it like you do. Heal our embracing, our smiling, and our intentions of the heart, soul and mind.
We consecrate our lives to you and unite our prayers by the hand of Mary and Joseph in the presence of the angels that sing and glorify you and were sent to earth to give company to the greatest gift, the Emmanuel amongst us.
All glory an honor be to you Lord Baby Jesus now and forever, AMEN!
